World Oceans Day - Messages from the Deep

The Cliff Weligama x Pearl Protectors: Postcard Project with Melody Yeo and Kirsty McQue 

To mark World Ocean Day, The Cliff Weligama partners with The Pearl Protectors, a youth-led marine conservation organization in Sri Lanka dedicated to safeguarding our seas through advocacy, education, and community action. Together with illustrator Melody Yeo (@miloyeo) and photographer Kirsty McQue (@kirstyinmotion), we present a special postcard collaboration: Messages from the Deep.

Proceeds from postcard sales will support ongoing ocean conservation efforts led by The Pearl Protectors.

Championing marine sustainability through grassroots advocacy, creative education, and hands-on initiatives, The Pearl Protectors are empowering the next generation to take ownership of their natural heritage. Their work spans protecting Sri Lanka’s coastlines, reducing plastic pollution, and inspiring environmental awareness across communities island-wide.

Known for her dreamy, fashion modeling for global icons like Chanel and Louis Vuitton, Melody Yeo brings her artistic vision to the sea, creating a series of hand-illustrated postcards, each one a gentle reminder to protect the ocean we love.

Kirsty McQue’s romantic underwater portraits celebrate the deep connection between women and nature. Through her lens, she invites us to engage with the natural world, fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty and fragility of the sea.

Messages from the Deep is a celebration of creativity, community, and care a project that blends artistic expression with environmental advocacy. Through these postcards, we invite you to pause, reflect, and take small but meaningful steps toward marine conservation.
